SOLD - Food and Cookery for the Sick and Convalescent by Fannie Farmer, 1909
This vintage copy of Food and Cookery for the Sick and Convalescent was published in 1909. This was Fannie Farmer's third book. While best known for The Boston Cooking School Cookbook, Fannie Farmer had more than a passing acquaintance with issues of health, convalescence and medicine. Farmer suffered a debilitating stroke following high school, and struggled for years to regain her mobility. After her studies at the Boston Cooking School she took summer courses at the Harvard Medical School, where she later would lecture. And the school she founded under her own name, Miss Farmer's School of Cookery, developed special equipment for the invalid or convalescent. Some light wear and fading to the green cloth cover with gilt titles. Book is square and securely bound. Some edge and corner. Hardcover, 289 pages plus advertisement pages after index.
